Vendor Guidelines

Last Updated: July 1, 2026|Vendor Operations & Ethics

SoftwareHope connects business software buyers with sellers. To maintain a transparent, neutral, and fair directory, all software vendors must adhere to these Vendor Guidelines when claiming listings, responding to reviews, and managing specifications.

1. Listing Accuracy & Maintenance

Vendors who claim their profiles are responsible for keeping product metadata, pricing tiers, feature availability, and external website links up-to-date.

  • Do not list incorrect pricing packages to intentionally bait buyers.
  • Verify feature checkmarks before selecting them in specifications sheets.
  • Maintain active, secure URLs for product redirection links.

2. One Product = One Listing Policy

Every software product must have exactly one listing on SoftwareHope, regardless of how many operating systems, devices, or platforms it supports.

Do not create separate product listings for the same software just because it is available for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, or other platforms. Instead:

  • Select all supported platforms under Platform Support & Compatibility during submission or editing.
  • Add platform-specific download destinations (e.g., Windows installer, macOS package, App Store link) within that same listing. SoftwareHope automatically routes visitors to the right destination based on their device.
  • Use the official product brand name without appending platform suffixes (e.g., use Easy Cut Pro, not Easy Cut Pro for Windows).
Example:
❌ Incorrect (Duplicate Listings)
  • Easy Cut Pro for Windows
  • Easy Cut Pro for macOS
✅ Correct (Single Unified Listing)
Easy Cut Pro
Platforms: Windows, macOS
Downloads: Windows (.exe) + macOS (.dmg)

3. Review Integrity & Ethics

To protect ratings authenticity:

  • No Self-Rating: Employees, founders, and contract agents are strictly prohibited from writing reviews for their own software products.
  • No Competitor Sabotage: Vendors must not submit negative reviews (either verified or unverified) on competitor pages.
  • No Incentivized Coercion: Vendors offering gifts/rewards for reviews must do so through our approved trust framework, providing the reward regardless of whether the review rating is positive or negative.

4. Guidelines for Replying to Reviews

Claimed vendors can reply to user reviews via their Vendor Dashboard. When replying, you must:

  • Keep the tone highly professional, respectful, and helpful.
  • Avoid defensive, aggressive, or offensive language.
  • Do not include promotional pitches, pricing deals, or unrelated links in review replies.

5. Consequences of Non-Compliance

Violations of these guidelines (such as submitting fake reviews or spamming directories with duplicate listings) will result in listing suspension, stripping of verification badges, and public placement of a "Flagged for Integrity Verification" warning banner on the product listing page.

6. Contact Partner Support

If you have questions about listing parameters or want to report fraudulent competitor activity, please contact our partner support team here.
