KittlvsKrita

Kittl is a design platform for creating custom graphics, typography, and illustrations.

Krita is a highly acclaimed, completely open-source digital painting and illustration software meticulously designed by and for conceptual artists, illustrators, and texture artists. Rather than functioning as a general-purpose image editor like GIMP or Photoshop, Krita is heavily focused on the specific mechanics of digital drawing. It perfectly mimics the natural feel of traditional media, offering an incredibly smooth, highly responsive drawing engine that works flawlessly with graphics tablets, providing unparalleled pressure sensitivity and brush stabilization. The software's crowning achievement is its staggeringly powerful brush engine. It offers over a dozen entirely unique brush engines—including watercolor, smudge, and particle brushes—each boasting dozens of deeply customizable parameters. Artists can easily design entirely unique brush behaviors, share their custom presets with the massive global community, and instantly access thousands of free community-generated brushes. Krita also features incredibly robust tools for comic book creation, including intuitive panel templates, highly precise vector text tools, and perspective grids. Governed by the KDE community, Krita is entirely free and open-source, sustained by a highly passionate community of donors and volunteers. It operates natively across Windows, macOS, and Linux, and has recently expanded to support Android tablets. Because it focuses so intensely on the pure joy and technical requirements of digital painting rather than complex photo manipulation, Krita has rightfully earned its place as the definitive, industry-standard open-source tool for digital illustrators worldwide.
