Readability scores are calculated using linguistic formulas like Flesch Reading Ease, Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level, Coleman-Liau, and ARI, which analyze variables like sentence length, syllable count, and character counts. Creating custom style guide rules does not alter these algorithms, but you can improve your readability scores by using custom rules to flag and shorten complex sentences or replace jargon with simpler vocabulary.
