Declarative Pipelines use a predefined, opinionated block structure (starting with a 'pipeline {}' block) that is human-readable, easier to learn, and enforces a consistent syntax — making it the recommended default for most CI/CD workflows. Scripted Pipelines are written entirely in Groovy and offer full programmatic flexibility, suitable for highly complex or non-standard automation scenarios that Declarative syntax cannot express. Both run on the same underlying Jenkins Pipeline engine, so there is no performance difference. If you need Groovy logic inside a Declarative pipeline, you can embed it using the 'script {}' block — giving you the best of both worlds.
