Steampipe addresses SQL queries across cloud services. Using SQL to inspect cloud services is a clever fit for teams that already know relational queries and want ad hoc audits. It is not a replacement for a managed alerting pipeline. Someone still needs to schedule queries and respond to results.
Sysdig Secure addresses cloud workload and container runtime security. Runtime detection is where Sysdig earns attention: a vulnerable package becomes more urgent when its container is actually exposed and active.
