Pros
- Prime members get unlimited, full‑resolution photo storage at no extra cost (just pay for Prime), making it a massive archive for RAW and JPEG files.
- Visual search features allow you to search by objects (e.g., “dog,” “beach”) and faces, though it is less refined than Google’s.
- Echo Show / Fire TV integration turns your compatible device into a digital photo frame; you can ask Alexa to display specific people or time periods hands‑free.
Cons
- New “Photo Gallery Unlimited” ad‑free fee – Amazon is testing a $2.99/month per device charge to remove ads from your photos on Echo Shows, even if you have Prime.
- Video storage is stingy – only 5GB for videos (same as non‑Prime users), which fills up in seconds for 4K clips.
- Weak desktop app compared to Google Drive or OneDrive; the web interface is clunky, and there is no proper Mac/Windows sync client for continuous backup.
